Motorcycle Crash: Rt 422 WB, Butler Twp

12:37: Stations 3, 1, 38, and 99 dispatched to Route 422 westbound between Routes 38 and 8 for a wire that came down; there is now a motorcycle and 2 riders down on the ground. Engine 38 is en route.

12:38: Tower 1 and Engine 1-2 are responding. 99-4 is assigned. Rescue 3 is responding.

12:40: Chief 3 is en route. He is asking Control to repeat the number of patients; he is advised at least 2 patients. 99-6 is now responding as well.

12:42: 99-4 is requesting the availability of an aircraft.

12:43: 99-6 advises traffic on Rt 422 from the east / Rt 38 side is at a stand-still. C-3 is coming from Rt 8.

12:44: 99-6 is on scene. They are notifying Control of a Signal 70 (patient is DOA).

12:45: C-3 is on scene with a motorcycle down in the middle of the road. Rescue 3-2 is responding; City units are on scene now as well. The 422 ramp from Route 8 westbound is to be shut down.

12:46: 99-6 is asking for an ETA on an aircraft. Control states Stat 6 is standing by with an ETA of 19 minutes to the BMH helipad. He is asking if they are en route and is advised they’re on standby. He is now requesting the aircraft in the air.

12:47: Control is advising 99-21 that Stat 6 has been dispatched. Stat 6 is based at the Clarion Airport (AXQ) and is not airborne at this time.

12:49: RQ-3-2(?) is instructed to get on Rt 422 EB and turn around at Rt 68 and shut down the on-ramp.

12:50: SQ-3-2 is approaching from the area of Rachel’s Roadhouse. They are being instructed to assist with closing the on-ramp where they’re at.

12:51: RQ-3-2 reports they are approaching eastbound, asking if they need to exit at Route 8 and re-enter. C-3 states they can get through, then they are to get off at Rt 68 and shut down the westbound on-ramp.

12:52: 99-4 is transporting to rendezvous with Stat 6 at BMH. They are still not yet airborne.

12:54: Stat 6 is now airborne from Clarion.

12:55: RQ-3-2 is on location.

12:55: The 2nd ambulance reports they have a patient loaded and will be transporting in approximately 2 minutes.

12:57: 99-4 is out at the helipad.

13:02: The helicopter is entering Butler County ~1 mile east of Petrolia Borough.

13:05: 99-4 is asking if PD can respond (to their location?). C-3 is requesting Control notify the school district of the closure of Rt 422 westbound between Routes 38 and 8.

13:06: EN-1-2 is back in service.

13:07: The helicopter is passing north west of East Butler, turning toward the hospital now. 99-6 is back in service.

13:08: Stat 6 is on the BMH helipad.

13:10: Control is asking 99-21 if PD is still needed; the hospital advised they were not needed.

13:17: Control is advising C-3 that PD is going to be sending westbound traffic the wrong way to the Jefferson Street exit.

13:18: Stat 6 is airborne to Pittsburgh.

13:21: Lt-3-2 is asking Control to dispatch either Station 8 or Station 35 for traffic control at the intersection of Rt 422 and Rt 38.

13:22: Station 99 is being dispatched for a medical call in Butler City for a patient who is out of oxygen due to the power outage from this incident.

13:24: Station 8 is being dispatched for the traffic control.

13:28: FP-Cap-8 is en route to his station.

13:31: Rescue 8 is en route.

13:34: RQ-8 is on location.

13:35: Stat 6 is on the helipad at UPMC Presbyterian.

13:39: Brush 8 is responding.

13:42: BR-8 is out at the intersection for traffic control.

14:01: C-3 is advising 44-1 (who is covering a medical call in Butler City for Station 99) that westbound 422 traffic can get off at Jefferson Street, but cannot go on through.

14:18: En-38 is back in service, returning to station.

14:29: Fire Police are reporting all tractor-trailer traffic has now been removed.

14:39: Command is being advised that the investigation Trooper is making his way down now.

14:44: C-3 is discussing traffic control at the intersection of Rt 38 and Rt 68; it sounds like PennDOT is there now with FP.

14:51: TR-1 has been released from the scene and is back in service.

14:56: Station 8 units have been released, relieved by PennDOT.

17:02: C-3 is clear of the scene. Lt-3-2 has Rt 422 Command.

17:16: Lt-3-2 is terminating the incident. All FD units are back in service.
