MVA w/ Entrapment: Pilot Travel Center

18:03: Stations 13, 24, and 64 dispatched for an MVA with unknown injuries. Multiple calls are reporting a vehicle left Interstate 79 and came onto Route 422. At the time of dispatch, it is in front of the Pilot Travel Center.

18:04: Chief 13 and possibly Station 64 acknowledge the call. Control is now advising all units that an additional call reports entrapment. Station 24 acknowledges the call with 1 firefighter on Station.

18:05: Station 13 acknowledges the call. Station 52 is being added to the call for a medic assist.

18:07: Control is now advising that personnel from Nova Ambulance are on scene confirming entrapment, reporting the patient is conscious and alert. Chief 24-3 is responding to the scene. Rescue 24 and 52-2 are responding.

18:08: Engine 13 is en route.

18:09: A Ross West View Station 214 unit is on scene stating the vehicle is 10 feet over the hillside and is unstable. They’re also reporting a patient was extricated by bystanders prior to their arrival and they are evaluating now.

18:12: RQ-24 is approaching; they are to pull in behind Command to close the left-hand lane. They are now reporting on scene. 64-1 is approaching; they are to pull in front of the 214 ambulance.

18:13: 64-1 is on scene. RQ-24 is instructed to bring up a fire extinguisher.

18:14: EN-13 is approaching. 64-1 is advising 52-2 they can go back in service.

18:15: EN-13 is being instructed to come through the second set of lights, then cross over and pull in front of the ambulance. EN-13 is now on location.

18:16: C-24-3 is asking Control to see if any helicopters are flying. Control is asking if they will land at the scene; C-24-3 states they will use a pre-designated LZ at the trailer park on Rt 422.

18:21: Per Control, Stat MedEvac 8 is available with an ETA of 11 minutes at this time.

18:22: Control is confirming the LZ with Command.

18:23: 64-1 is transporting to the landing zone. They’re advised Stat 8 in about 10 minutes.

18:30: Stat 8 is airborne from their base at the Grove City Airport (29D).

18:35: The pilot is contacting the ground crew for the LZ briefing.

18:38: Stat 8 is being marked on the ground.

18:48: C-13 reports Stat 8 is airborne to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

18:54: EN-13 is back in service.

18:55: BR-13 and 214-9 are back in service.

18:57: 64-1 is back in service.

19:08: Stat 8 is arriving at UPMC Mercy.
