Pileup, I-79 SB @ 83 MM

12:42: Stations 22, 21 and 62 dispatched for an MVA on I-79 southbound at the 83.6 mile marker southbound with unknown injuries and reportedly 5 vehicles involved.

12:43: 62-2 unit en route.

12:44: 62-3 is also responding. Station 22 acknowledges the call. Rescue 21 is en route.

12:45: 83-1 is passing by reporting it is just south of the 83 mile marker, and there appears to be 5 cars on the road and 1 on the shoulder.

12:46: R-21 is asking if Control has received calls for an incident northbound involving a semi. Control states they’re taking calls on it now.

12:49: R-21 is asking Control to notify PennDOT the roadway at Route 19 and 528 is a solid sheet of ice. Control states they’ll do it if they get a chance.

12:51: 62-3 is arriving at the 83.6 MM southbound and will be assessing.

12:52: Road conditions prevented the 62-2(?) from turning onto 528, they are rerouting.

A Harmony ambulance was unable to get to the first I-79 crash due to road conditions.

12:54: Rescue 22 is on scene. They are asking Engine 22 to take the northbound crash; traffic is moving very slow now. E-22 states they will be en route momentarily.

12:55: R-22 is asking R-22 if they get on at 528 if they will be before or after the scene; there was either no response or it was walked on.

12:56: Control has been attempting to reach a Harmony EMS unit; 62-3 answers and Control is asking if there is a 62 unit en route to the northbound crash as they currently only have Squad 98 responding there. R-21 is advising R-22 they are at the 528 interchange and requesting orders; R-22 states they can turnaround and proceed to the NB crash. R-22 is stating there are no injuries at this scene.

13:06: R-22 is now asking Squad 98 if additional assistance is needed at the northbound crash; Control states S-98 has reported no injuries and is requesting traffic be diverted off I-79 onto 528.

13:17: 62-3 is transporting a patient to UPMC Passavant Cranberry.
