Wood Burner Fire, Fleming Road

08:15: Stations 36, 27, 15 and Freeport EMS dispatched to 546 Fleming Road in Buffalo Township for a wood burner on fire inside the residence.

08:19: Second alert for Station 36 due to no acknowledgment. Station 27 acknowledges the call.

08:21: Control is advising Chief 27 that PD are on scene with smoke showing and there has still been no acknowledgement from Station 36. C-27 requests Armstrong Station 70 and Allegheny Station 169 be added to the call.

08:23: Engine 27 is en route. Control advises it is north of the station on Fleming, across from Willow Drive.

08:26: Control states PD have advised this is now a fully involved fire. Control states they are now attempting to notify the utilities; C-27 request a full second alarm activation. E-15-2 is en route.

08:27: Control reports the second alarm is requesting Allegheny 168 and 157. Armstrong Engine 70-1 is en route.

08:28: E-27 is on scene, first due engine, with a fully involved fire.

08:29: E-15-2 is asking for Herman Station 10 to be placed on standby in Station 15; they are activated for the call.

08:30: Command is asking Control to check with Westmoreland County on the availability of a rehab unit from Murrysville.

08:31: Tanker 15 is en route.

08:32: E-15-2 is on scene.

08:33: Engine 15 is en route.

08:34: Station 10 acknowledges with 1 man on station.

08:35: E-70-1 is on scene.

08:37: Control states West Penn Power has been notified and will be attempting a remote disconnect; Reimer Gas should have a crew en route.

08:41: Multiple Allegheny County units are on scene.

08:46: T-15 is instructed to proceed to the hydrant at Twin Oaks Drive. Command is asking if Murrysville was available; Control states they haven’t heard from Westmoreland but they will check.

08:48: Freeport EMS is requesting another transport unit to the scene to standby as 70-2 is transporting 1 patient to West Penn Hospital. Station 45 is alerted.

08:51: Command is asking Control to notify the Buffalo Township Water Authority they will be using the hydrant at Twin Oaks Drive and Hepler Road.

08:55: 45-1 is responding. Command is advised they have heavy fire from the attic now.

08:58: Control is advising Command that Support 610 is responding from Murrysville and 45-1 is en route.

09:00: S-610 is reporting en route on the Butler channel now.

09:01: Interior crews advising Command they’re getting hit with water from the exterior.

09:04: 45-1 is approaching the scene from the north, asking 70-2 where they’re wanted. 45-1 is now reporting on scene.

09:06: Interior crews are reporting a good knockdown on the first floor. Command is asking if they’ve started up in the ceiling or attic, they are stating they can’t get to the 2nd floor, the stairway is compromised, and they now see fire on the A-B corner.

09:22: Crews state they have good access to the roof.

09:32: Support 610 is reporting they are approaching.

09:35: S-610 is on scene.

09:55: Control is advising Freeport 70-2 there is another call for their station and is asking if they are available; they are not at this time.

09:59: Interior crews are advising Command the highest reading they are getting on the thermal imaging camera is about 70°.

10:10: Command is asking for Red Cross to be notified to assist the residents.

10:39: Captain 15 is telling T-15 they are to leave the fill site operational per Command.

11:05: Interior crews are telling Engine 27 to turn off the foam now, they’re going to flush.

11:08: Engine 27 is being advised they can shut down all lines. They are also advising E-15-2 to shut down as well.

11:12: 45-1 states they have been released by Command and are back in service.

11:23: E-15-2 states all Station 15 units are clear of this incident except their Squad, which is remaining on scene for traffic control.

11:24: Allegheny 169 Engine is clear of the scene.

11:30: Freeport 70-2 is reporting they are clear of the incident.

11:32: Freeport fire units are clear of the scene.

11:41: Engine 27 is clear of the scene.

11:44: Fleming Road Command is terminated. All units are back in service.
