Fire at Former Bantam Factory, Pullman Square

01:43: Stations 1, 3 (for Ladder-3), 38 (for RIT), and 99 dispatched for multiple calls reporting heavy fire, through the roof, at the “Old Cleveland Cliffs Building, behind Pullman Square.”

01:44: Tower-1 is responding; Control states they did receive video showing fire through the roof. Chief 3-2 wants a 2nd alarm which would recall all City shifts to their Station and activate Station 3 for a full-assist. Engine-1-2 is on the road. TR-1 reports “fire in the sky” and they’ll need Engine-10 and Rescue-42 on top of the 2nd alarm.

01:45: Control is advising this is a 3-story brick building behind Pullman Square, and it is “heavy fire.” Engine-38 is on the road.

01:46: Stations 3 (full response), 1 (all shifts), 10, and 42 are being alerted. TR-1 is arriving on scene reporting a 3-story brick office building with heavy fire on all 3 floors. Rescue-42 is responding.

Second alarm and additional assistance being dispatched.

TR-1 arriving on scene.

01:47: Second alert for Chief-1. TR-1 reports roof collapse on the 3rd floor.

01:48: Tower-42, C-1, and Ladder-3 are responding.

01:49: EN-38 is on location.

01:50: TR-1 requests the State Police Fire Marshall be notified now, as they’ll most likely be needed by the end of this, but if the FM calls right now his calls won’t be answered for a while. LR-3 is on location.

01:52: TR-1 is requesting a 3rd alarm activation.

01:53: Stations 11 (Rescue), 9 (Engine), 14 (Engine), and 26 and 15 (Ladders) are being alerted for the 3rd alarm. It is being given as the “Old Bantam factory,” now.

01:54: Station 33 is being dispatched for their Tower. Station 11 has the call. All incoming units are now instructed to stage at the end of Bantam Ave.

01:55: TR-1 is instructing LR-3 to position for an Engine to lay into them. EN-38 is instructed to charge their hydrant.

01:56: Chief 26 and Station 15 acknowledge the call. Both are requested for their Ladder/Tower apparatus. Chief 14 is headed to station.

01:57: TR-1 is still instructing EN-38 is charge the hydrant; EN-38 states it’s already done as best they can — they’re working out (kinks?)

01:58: TR-1 wants Engine-1 to come in Bantam Ave and grab a hydrant and lay into LR-3 with their hose off to the side. TR-1 reports the roof collapsed into the 3rd floor, and the 3rd floor is about to go any minute now.

01:59: Ladder-26 and Tower-33 are responding. Control is asking Command and/or EN-38 if they are to recall all VA shifts to Station 38, as well; the response is affirmative and their tones are going out now. Engine-3 is at the hydrant near DuBrook and is requesting further instruction. Command says it’s their call — whatever’s easier, because they already cut through a fence for the first hydrant, and they’re just going to lay into LR-3.

02:00: TR-1 requests Station 21 (Cranberry) move an Engine into Station 1 to fill the City for coverage as they are outside of the current response.

01:01: Rescue-11 is responding. Station 21 is being toned out. (Time change — end DST.)

01:02: TR-1 is asking Control for a run-down of Trucks/Ladders/Towers (terminology varies by the exact type of apparatus and sometimes by part of the county) en route at this time. Control advises TR-42, TR-33, and LR-26 are on the road, and Station 15 has acknowledged but is not yet en route.

01:03: LR-15 is en route.

01:04: EN-10, RQ-42, and SQ-42 are on location.

01:06: TR-42 is coming in Pillow Street requesting orders; they’re also just to stage at the end of Bantam Avenue at this time.

01:08: TR-1 is being asked to increase pressure on a hose line, but they’re stating to “hold on,” they’re “fixing some things.”

01:09: EN-3 is advising the crew at the hydrant near DuBrook that they’re good for water whenever the hydrant is ready. Engine-14-2 is approaching and is also to standby at the end of the road; they’re now reporting on location.

01:13: Command is asking LR-3 to position a little closer to their corner; they’re not going to be able to make much impact with their stream currently. LR-3 states they just now got water, but if they tear the truck down, they can move. Command states if they can go ahead and move closer for better penetration.

01:14: LR-26 and Engine-9 are on location.

09:12: First alarm (Stations 1, 3, 38, and 99) dispatched back to the scene for a reported rekindle.

09:16: City units are on scene. All others can stand by at this time.

09:21: Engine-38 is on scene; they were already close when instructed to stand by and were then instructed to proceed into the scene.

09:48: (EN-38?) is good to charge the hydrant.
