17:00: Stations 33, 24, and 52 dispatched to the 101.2 mile marker of I-79 northbound for an MVA with rollover and entrapment.
17:01: Station 52 acknowledges the call. Chief 33 is responding and asking about the number of people inside the vehicle. Control states it sounds like 3 people still inside the truck and 1 out, and the driver is the only one believed to be injured. C-33 is requesting Station 64 for an additional ambulance but is advised they are on a call in Lawrence County. He states Control can disregard for now.
17:02: Tower 33, Engine 33-2, and 52-2 are responding.
17:03: Second alert for Station 24 due to no acknowledgment.
17:04: Station 24 acknowledges the call.
17:06: Chief 24-3 is asking C-33 if he is NB yet; C-33 is at the 103 SB. C-24-3 is at the 100 MM and reports a heavy traffic backlog. C-33 is now requesting a 2nd ambulance to the scene from Station 62.
17:07: Station 62 is being alerted. C-24-3 is on scene reporting 1 vehicle on its side in a ditch with 2 people entrapped.
17:09: C-33 is on location.
17:10: Brush 24 is responding. TR-33 is approaching and is to shut down the interstate northbound at the Rt 422 junction. C-33 is requesting the availability of first 1 helicopter, then a second.
17:11: 52-2 is to pull past the accident scene. EN-33-2 is also approaching; they are to position beside the vehicle and assist with stabilization and extrication. Two more ambulances are needed. C-33 requests Stations 62 and 52 be toned out.
17:12: BR-24 is asking Command if they are to shut down the northbound lanes at 422 and is instructed to do so. Stations 52 and 62 are being alerted. Command is requesting the helicopters in the air to land directly on the interstate.
17:13: TR-33 is asking BR-24 to shut down traffic from 422 getting onto 79, and TR-33 will shut down I-79 diverting onto 422. RQ-24 is to position behind EN-33-2 and is arriving on scene. Command is instructing them to get their battery-powered tools.
17:14: 62-4 states they’ll get a 2nd truck headed that way; 62-6 is now responding.
17:15: Control is giving ETAs on 4 helicopters: Stat 1 is 28 min, Stat 17 is 38 min, LifeFlight 2 is 20 min, and LifeFlight 1 is 30 minutes. The 2 closest are requested in the air; they will land on the interstate.
17:17: 62-4 is to pull in front of 52-2. Command is advising them of two patients, 1 child and 1 adult.
17:18: Extrication of first patient is complete; they are working on the 2nd patient. Control states Stat 3 is now available and will be the 1st helicopter with an ETA of 11 minutes. They are currently airborne, returning to their base from UPMC Presbyterian. LF-2 will be the 2nd aircraft with an ETA of 20 minutes. C-33 now states the 2nd helicopter can stand down.
17:19: Command is advising one of the 62 units that this might be a traumatic arrest.
17:20: Command is marking the 2nd patient extricated. Control is advising him there was no response from Station 52, so there are 3 ambulances on the incident. C-33 states that will be sufficient.
17:21: C-33 says he needs acknowledgment out of PennDOT. Control states they were advised and have to call people out; no ETA was provided. 62-4 is on scene.
17:24: C-33 is confirming the interstate is shut down and TR-33 confirms it is shut down at Rt 422.
17:25: Stat 3 is attempting to contact RQ-24.
17:26: Stat 3 is advised they’ll be landing on the interstate northbound. They report 2 minutes out; they will orbit once then land.
17:28: C-33 is advising Stat 3 they are still moving 2 cars to clear an LZ.
17:30: Stat 3 is on the ground.
17:31: 62-6 is on scene.
17:32: TR-33 reports PennDOT has arrived and is asking for instructions; they are to proceed up to the scene.
17:44: C-33 is asking Control to have the county get a light tower out.
17:47: Control states the light tower should be out shortly.
17:52: 62-4 states they’re OK on scene and will be there for an extended period.
18:00: Command is reporting Stat 3 in the air and Control is asking their destination; Command states, “No destination.” 62-6 is clear and returning to their area.
18:12: Stat 3 has returned to their base at UPMC Cranberry.
18:21: 10-03 is en route to the interstate.
18:23: RQ-24 is clear and returning to station.
18:27: 52-2 is out at Grove City Hospital — unknown when they went en route.
18:29: BR-24 is back in service.
18:35: Command states Station 33 units will be clearing the interstate to respond to a chimney fire that was just dispatched in Muddy Creek Twp.
22:09: 10-03 is clearing the interstate.
