Motorcycle MVA: Centreville Pike @ Duffy Rd

16:57: Stations 33, 14, and 52 dispatched for a car vs motorcycle, William Flynn Highway at Duffy Road in Brady Township. The caller has advised the rider is underneath the car. Chief 33 is en route direct to the scene, checking the status of a helicopter.

16:58: Station 14 acknowledges. 52-2 is responding.

17:00: Engine 33-2 is en route. C-33 is asking Control for any updates.

17:01: Control states the patient is still underneath the vehicle, and there are conflicting reports on whether he is breathing. Stat MedEvac 16 is the closest available with an ETA of 11 minutes, if needed; they’ll be placed on standby. Station 34 is requested for their Engine to shut down Route 8 at Ralston Road. PennDOT is requested for traffic control and signage. Tower 33 responding.

17:02: C-33 is arriving on scene reporting this is Centreville at Duffy. He reports 1 patient “semi under the vehicle,” and is checking on injuries. Stat 16 is airborne, returning to their base at ACMH Kittanning from AGH, and just passed through the southeastern corner of Butler County over the Rt 28 / Rt 356 junction. They are turning to the north-northwest now.

17:03: Rescue 14 is responding. 52-2 is advised the patient is unconscious; Butler is advised the helicopter is needed in the air to a field at the scene. 52-2 is pulling in. EN-33-2 is advised vehicle stabilization and airbags are needed to lift the truck.

17:04: Chief 34-2 acknowledges the call. TR-33 is to stop by a red car on their approach and shut the intersection down. EN-33-2 on scene.

17:05: Control is advising all units that Stat 16 is already airborne with an ETA of 10 minutes.

17:06: RQ-14 is to expedite their response and approach off Duffy Road. TR-33 is approaching from Duffy; they’re again ordered to stop at the red car and to close the intersection completely.

17:07: Command is marking patient extrication complete.

17:08: TR-33 to come down farther and setup cones for the LZ. The helicopter has now made a turn more to the northwest, toward the scene.

17:09: RQ-14 is on scene. Engine 34 reported en route but was immediately canceled by Command due to the different location than originally expected.

17:11: Control states PennDOT has been notified for traffic control and signage. Command states he’ll see what the state wants to do (most likely due to this not being on Route 8).

17:13: Stat 16 is requesting her LZ briefing. After a quick brief, the pilot reports she has visual on the LZ.

17:15: Command is marking the helicopter on the ground at the LZ.

17:16: 52-2 is en route to the landing zone.

17:18: 52-2 is out at the LZ.

17:22: RQ-14 has been released by Command and is back in service.

~17:51: Stat 16 is airborne to Pittsburgh.

17:56: C-33 is reporting the aircraft is en route to Presby.

18:10: Stat 16 is arriving on the helipad at UPMC Presbyterian.

18:11: 52-2 is back in service.

18:25: Incident terminated; Station 33 is back in service.
