MVA w/ Rollover: Rt 38 @ Hoon Road

18:14: Stations 14 and 99 dispatched for an MVA reported head-on with one vehicle overturned. Oneida Valley Road at Hoon Road in Center Township.

18:15: Stations 14 and 99 acknowledge the call. Chief 14 is responding directly to the scene and is requesting Station 35 be added.

18:16: Station 35 is being toned out; Chief 35 acknowledges and is responding to his station. Control is now advising responding units that an additional call reports possible entrapment.

18:17: 99-3 is responding.

18:18: Rescue 14 is en route.

18:19: Control is now advising another caller places the scene north of Pine Tract / Hoon right near the dam. Station 35 acknowledges with 1 on Station.

18:20: C-14 is on scene reporting 3 vehicles appear to be involved and there will be a total lane closure; smoke is coming from 1 vehicle. C-14 is now checking for the availability of air evacuation for possibly 2 patients; he is confirming multiple entrapments.

18:21: Engine 14 is responding. Command is now stating at least two helicopters are needed. Control is asking how many EMS units are needed and if the LZ will be Pine Tract @ 38; he only states affirmative but is also requesting a second heavy rescue, possibly from Station 9, and traffic control from Station 35 at the intersection of Rt 38 and Mahood Road.

18:22: Station 25 copied Command directly; Stations 9 and 25 are being alerted.

18:23: Command is advising EMS this is about a mile north of Hoon Road. Command is now requesting 3 more ALS units to the scene and is confirming all 3 helicopters are needed in the air at this time.

18:24: Stat MedEvac 6 was airborne ~5 miles east of Oil City returning to their base at the Clarion Airport (KAXQ) from the area of Erie and has now diverted toward this incident. Control states Station 25 was alerted for traffic and Station 9 has been dispatched for their rescue; Command requests Station 9 respond with the Rescue and an Engine. C-25-2 is being instructed to shut off Rt 38 at Mahood. Engine 35 is instructed to setup the LZ at Hoon Road. Rescue 25 is en route.

18:25: C-25 is advising his Rescue is on the road and is asking if another apparatus is requested from his station; there is no immediate reply from Command.

18:26: RQ-35 is being instructed by C-35 to proceed to the scene. RQ-14 is approaching and is instructed to come into the southbound lane beside the ambulance. C-35(?) is stating they’ll need an LZ for 3 helicopters at the intersection of Pine Tract and Rt 38.

18:27: 99-4 is on scene. Rescue 9 is responding; Control is asking if they have a crew for their Engine and RQ-9 states negative.

18:28: RQ-14 is on location.

18:29: RQ-9 is being instructed to approach from the south and come up and stage behind the ambulance. They are to keep the road open and assist with extrication. Command is asking EN-35 if they are able to setup the LZ.

18:30: Command is asking Control which helicopters have been confirmed; Control states the 3 helicopters will be en route with ETAs of 11 minutes, 15 minutes, and 20 minutes. The LZ was given to the air services as Pine Tract @ Rt 38, and EN-35 is reportedly on scene for the LZ.

18:31: LifeFlight 4 is airborne from their base at the Butler Airport (KBTP). Engine 14-2 is being instructed to assist with the landing zone.

18:33: Control is now advising Command that RQ-9 is en route, but they didn’t have a crew for their Engine as requested. Command states he doesn’t need an additional engine. EN-35 reports the LZ is established.

18:34: LF-4 is contacting the LZ reporting 1 minute out. RQ-25 is on scene for traffic control, Hohn Farm Rd north of the reservoir.

18:35: The pilot is familiar with this LZ and will circle to land; the LZ crew has visual contact on the helicopter. Two Stat helicopters appear to be approaching from the northeast.

18:36: RQ-9 on scene.

18:37: LifeFlight 2 is airborne from their base at the Clarion Hospital. Stat 6 is reporting 3 minutes out.

18:38: LF-4 is being marked on the ground.

18:40: LZ has visual on Stat 6; they will circle to land.

18:41: EN-9 is being instructed to disregard.

18:44: The LZ is asking if the aircrew is needed at the scene. Command reports 2 patients loaded for transport soon.

18:45: The 3rd helicopter has not yet landed per the LZ. One of the Stat helicopters continued past the scene.

18:49: LF-2 is approaching.

18:50: 99-3 is transporting to the LZ.

18:51: Another 99 unit is en route to the LZ.

18:52: All 3 patients are reportedly being transported to the LZ at this time.

18:59: 99-5 reports 1 child transferred to LifeFlight for transport to Children’s.

19:02: The LZ is reporting Stat 6 is airborne.

19:08: RQ-9 is back in service.

19:16: Another patient has been transferred to LifeFlight.

~19:17: Stat 6 is arriving on the helipad at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

19:19: LF-2 is airborne to Pittsburgh.

19:24: LF-4 is airborne to AGH.

19:28: 99-4 is clear from the LZ, remaining out of service at this time.

19:33: A unit is reporting Rt 38 is shut down at Pine Tract now.

19:37: LF-2 is on the helipad at Allegheny General Hospital.

19:42: LF-4 is on the helipad at AGH.

20:17: All Station 25 units are back in service.

20:19: EN-35 is being released if PennDOT has the road shut down at their location.

20:23: EN-35 is back in service, reporting the rest of their units remain on scene.

23:02: Station 14 units are clear of the scene.
