MVA w/ Injury: Rt 422 @ Paradise Lane

15:34: Stations 8, 9 and 99 dispatched for an MVA with injuries, East Route 422 at Paradise Lane in Summit Township. Reportedly involving 2 vehicles, head-on, with injury. Captain 8 is responding to his station.

15:35: 99-3 is assigned. Chief 9 is en route to his station.

15:37: Station 9 acknowledges the call.

15:39: Station 8 acknowledges the call with 1 firefighter on station. Rescue 9 is responding.

15:40: 99-3 is reporting a minute out, but there are no fire units on scene yet.

15:41: 99-3 is on location.

15:42: EMS is confirming entrapment. RQ-9 is arriving on scene.

15:43: Rescue 8 is en route.

15:44: Squad 9 is responding.

15:45: C-8 is approaching. Westbound traffic is reportedly shutdown. Command is requesting a helicopter in the air to the BMH helipad.

15:46: C-8 is on location. RQ-8 is instructed to come behind RQ-9 and shut down the highway in both directions. RQ-8 is reporting in the area.

15:47: C-8 is requesting his station be re-alerted for additional manpower on the scene.

15:48: Station 8 is now being re-alerted.

15:50: Control states the aircraft will be Stat MedEvac 17 with an ETA of 6 minutes to the helipad; they are already airborne.

15:51: Command is now requesting the aircraft be diverted to the scene. The roadway is to be fully closed; units are reporting it is.

15:52: Control is confirming the aircraft will land on Route 422 and Command states affirmative.

15:54: C-8 is switching to Air Ops and Control confirms the aircraft is Stat 17. It is not clear from where they are coming; there is only 1 Stat aircraft airborne currently and it has not diverted. C-9-2 is asking for Station 10 to close 422 at Bonniebrook; they are now being alerted.

15:55: Station 10 acknowledges the call.

15:56: Brush 8 is responding, understaffed.

15:59: Engine 10 and Rescue 10 are en route. A Stat helicopter now appears to be airborne from UPMC Cranberry.

16:00: RQ-10 is being instructed to handle the closure at Bonniebrook; EN-10 is to stage near the LZ. The aircraft has diverted toward this incident.

16:01: BR-8 is on location.

16:02: Stat 17 is located over Callery Borough at this time. Command is requesting an ETA on the helicopter; Control states they just spoke with the air service and was advised they were NOT airborne before and are now about 5 minutes out.

16:03: EN-10 is on scene at Bonniebrook.

16:04: The aircraft is passing northwest of the Butler Airport (KBTP).

16:07: The aircraft is between Freeport Road and Herman Road in Summit Township now.

16:08: Command is attempting to notify the pilot he has visual contact, but he is not getting a response from the aircraft yet.

16:09: Command is now giving the pilot his LZ briefing.

16:11: The helicopter is on the ground at the LZ now.

16:25: Stat 17 is airborne. Command reports 422 will be shutdown for an extended period.

16:37: Command is requesting Countywide Fire Police activation to assist with the 422 closure.

16:38: Cars are to be sent down Heist Road.

17:30: Traffic control continues at this time. Two news helicopters have overflown the scene and the coroner has been brought in, per KDKA.

17:33: All Station 10 units have been relieved for traffic control; Station 10 is back in service.

18:43: Oil-Dri is needed for a truck that is apparently leaking diesel fuel at one of the traffic control points.

18:53: Command is requesting Station 10 for a fuel spill; a tractor-trailer lost its filter(?). There is approximately 20 gallons of fuel on the roadway. This is at the Bonniebrook intersection.

19:22: Station 9 units are clear of the scene.

19:26: C-8 is turning over Command to Rescue Captain 8.

19:31: C-8 states the diesel fuel spill is from Keck to Bonniebrook. PennDOT is requested.

19:50: Station 10 units are clear from the fuel spill.

20:02: Units are being advised about 10 minutes now for PennDOT to pick up their barriers. FD units are to begin breaking down their equipment to minimum.

20:24: Units are stating PSP has cleared them to reopen 422 at Keck Road. They’re being told NOT to do that until PennDOT retrieves their barriers.

20:25: Tractor-trailers are reportedly moving once again.

20:27: Route 422 is good to be fully reopened. Fire units are back in service, but some FP remain on scene at this time.
