Brush Fire: Byers Road, Clay Township

12:30: Stations 25, 14 and 99 dispatched to 241 Byers Road in Clay Township. A caller reports a brush fire on the right-of-way behind his residence.

12:31: Station 99 acknowledges and will standby from their station. Station 25 acknowledges.

12:32: Chief 14-2 acknowledges the call.

12:34: Station 14 acknowledges. Brush 25 is responding.

12:36: Brush 14 and Tanker 25 are en route.

12:40: BR-25 is on location.

12:41: BR-25 is instructing TN-25 to stage on the hard road upon arrival; BR-14 is to follow a dirt lane back until they find BR-25. BR-14 is now on scene.

12:45: Command is requesting Station 13 for their Brush truck and UTV and they are now being activated.

12:47: BR-14 or BR-25 is reporting they’ve made it to the head of the fire; it’s about 200 yards back and they’re going to try to cut it off. The other unit states they’re stopping what’s out there and then they’ll be back. TN-25 is on location.

12:49: Second alert for Station 13 due to no acknowledgment.

12:50: Station 13 and Chief 13 acknowledge the call.

12:52: TN-25 is advising C-25-2 that Station 35 has advised they are available if needed.

12:56: BR-14 is advising Command they’re out of water and they’re coming out to refill. They state there is pretty deep extension back into the woods and they will probably need more manpower. Command is now requesting Stations 35 and 31.

12:57: Control states Station 13 has acknowledged; Command states they are still needed.

13:10: Units are still reporting significant extension into parts of the woods they can’t reach with the apparatus.

13:11: A full second alarm response is now requested. Control states they don’t have a 2nd alarm assignment listed and is asking Command which stations they want.

13:12: Stations 33, 34 and 30 if not still on the MVA (they cleared) are requested. Cmdr-31 is also asking to make sure EN-31 is on the road.

13:13: Station 33 and 34 units are responding from the parade in Harrisville.

13:15: Station 26 requested for their two UTVs.

13:21: UTV 10 is now requested and a UTV, brush (?) and rehab from Station 29.

13:22: 99-5 will now be responding to the scene to standby.

13:29: Command is being advised to start Forestry Department in case they can’t get this contained.

13:31: Multiple stations to move to standby for the northern parts of the county.

13:34: Stations 28 and 32 are activated for the standby.

13:35: TN-34 and Station 33 units are on scene.

13:42: Station 32 acknowledges the standby. Control is advising Command that Forestry has been advised and is requesting to know the size of the area burning. EN-34 is on scene.

13:43: Command is being advised if trucks come in from Rt 308 they can attack from both sides. Across from Finney Lane on Rt 308 is the access. Station 34 units will be sent back that way.

13:44: Someone is advising Command approximately 9-10 acres are burning. Brush 34 is not capable of this task(?).

13:46: SQ-29 and UTV-29 are on location.

13:48: A homeowner is advising trucks they can’t get through (from Mahood?).

13:49: Control states Forestry called back and will be en route with a 1½ hour ETA; Command advises they’ll probably still be out there.

13:50: An apparatus carrying gasoline is being directed back. There were requests earlier for fuel for pumps.

13:51: Command is asking 29 units if they brought their rehab unit as requested.

13:52: SQ-10 is on location.

13:53: A unit is coming out for several hundred feet(?) of 1¾” line and is being asked if they want 1¾” or forestry line. They’re confirming 1¾”.

13:54: C-33 is advising C-26 he’s at the bottom of where they were trying to get to and the fire is out there and is asking if Command wants to expend the effort to access that.

13:55: Command states they’re trying to get out the tram road(?) to get out to the other side.

13:57: Someone is stating they’ve found “more fire.” C-25 is asking for a SITREP and is asking if additional resources are needed; he’s being advised they should be good with what they’ve got on scene at this time.

13:59: UTV-29 is advising they’ve unloaded and is requesting orders. C-25-2 is instructing them to go straight back from Rt 308 there’s a patch of fire in the woods.

14:00: 99-5 is reporting they’re repositioning to where the rehab is setup.

14:03: BR-32 is on scene.

14:05: The bulk of the fire is reportedly out; they are working on mop-up.

14:06: Command is asking if anyone still has large fire. Hotspots and smoldering is reported.

14:10: All big fire is confirmed knocked down. Units are working on mop-up. Command is marking the fire under control.

14:21: Someone has reportedly been sent back to Station 14 for more (bottled?) water.

14:34: Units still staged on the hard road are possibly being instructed to begin clearing.

14:40: More units are being released as their personnel are beginning to return.

14:41: UT-14 is back in service.

14:42: Station 33 is clear. Any unit not being utilized which had all personnel can return per Command.

14:43: Command is asking Control to advise Forestry that the fire is out and they can proceed at their own discretion.

14:46: EN-31 is clear of the scene, returning to station.

14:50: Command is being advised units are still hitting some hotspots; Command is now stating he heard some type of explosion and is checking for PAR from all units. All units are reporting OK.

14:59: SQ-10 is back in service, returning to station.

15:17: 99-5 is asking Command if they are still needed on standby and they are being released.

15:18: Someone is reporting a flare up. 1 unit is responding to assist.

15:19: C-34 reports all Station 34 units are back in service, returning to Station.

15:20: TN-13 is clear of the scene.

15:21: All Station 35 units are back in service.

15:23: SQ-31 and BR-31 are returning in service.

15:24: All Station 29 units are returning to station.

15:36: Units are reporting they are still finishing mopping up some remaining hotspots.

15:51: Station 26 is clear.

16:09: Station 28 is being released.

16:33: Incident terminated.
