14:56: Stations 24, 13 and 64 dispatched for a motorcycle wreck on Route 422 westbound near the Moraine bridge; the rider is down with altered mental status, and amputation of the leg.
14:57: Brush 24 is en route. Chief 13-2 and Station 13 acknowledge the call.
14:58: Chief 13-2 is requesting the availability of the nearest helicopter. Chief 24-3 is responding to the scene. Brush 24 is advising C-24-3 they are about 1 minute out.
15:00: Engine 13 is en route. Chief 24-3 is asking Control if there has been acknowledgment from Station 64; Control states a radio keyed up but there has been no voice contact with Control. C-24-3 is requesting the next due EMS.
15:01: B-24 is on location and confirming this will be on the westbound side. Station 99 is alerted for the call; Control is now stating a tourniquet has been applied.
15:02: Control states LifeFlight 4 has a 9 minute ETA directly to the scene. Brush 13 is responding. B-24 is advising C-24-3 they are on location with a male patient on the side of the road with confirmed amputation. C-24-3 is arriving on location and assuming Command.
15:04: Control is advising that LF-4 is standing by; C-24-3 states he needs them in the air, there is massive blood loss. E-13 is approaching; they are advised there is already a massive backlog of traffic, and they are instructed to setup a landing zone on the bridge
15:05: Control advises LF-4 has been dispatched, ETA is still 9 minutes.
15:06: LF-4 is airborne from the Butler Airport. E-13 is on location.
15:10: B-13 is advised Command needs a C-collar from their truck.
15:11: Control states PennDOT has been notified of the westbound road closure; Control is asking Command if they need assistance from PennDOT. Station 13 units are working on the closure, but if PennDOT is able to send someone, C-24-3 states they can go ahead.
15:12: LF-4 is reporting 1 minute out requesting the LZ briefing. They will be landing on the bridge, in the eastbound lanes. After the briefing, they are about 30 seconds out and will be doing an orbit before landing. A LF crew member is on scene already requesting blood when the aircraft lands.
15:13: E-13 is advised that Route 422 eastbound has been closed now for the aircraft.
15:16: LF-4 is reported on the ground at the LZ.
15:27: Command is advising they will be closing 422 westbound at Pleasant Valley Road. Control is asking again if PennDOT is needed to assist.
15:28: Command is stating they do not know how long the closure will last, so to have PennDOT send a crew to relieve FD units at Pleasant Valley Road.
15:29: Control states PennDOT has been notified and will be sending a crew. Command is requesting a tow for a 13′ box truck that got hung up trying to turn around per Lieutenant 13.
15:32: Control states PSP has been notified to request Errera’s for the tow.
15:34: B-24 is advising Command they have 422 shut down. Command states he is sending another unit down to help them out.
15:39: B-24 is asking if another unit is available for traffic control. They are getting passed. The helicopter is about to depart.
15:42: The helicopter is reportedly getting airborne now.
15:44: Command is being advised a Trooper has taken over part of the closure. A FD crew is being sent to assist and PennDOT should be arriving also. LF-4 is marked en route to AGH.
15:45: Eastbound traffic is to be reopened now.
15:46: Control is advising C-13-2 of an MVA in his area; Station 14 is to be added to that call.
15:48: E-13 is breaking away to respond to the MVA in their area.
15:57: C-24-3 is reporting another unit is coming from the station to assist B-24.
16:00: B-24 is advising Command a representative of the box truck’s company is on location; Command states there is a tow truck there already.
16:01: C-24-3 is asking B-13 if the heavy wrecker will be needed where they are; B-13 states the truck there should be able to handle it.
16:03: LF-4 is arriving on the helipad at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
16:08: B-24 is approaching Pleasant Valley Road.
16:12: Rescue 24 is on location.
16:14: Command states the box truck has been taken care of.
16:15: Station 24 is asking Command if any additional resources are needed; they are instructed to standby at this time while he checks.
16:18: B-24 is being advised there is traffic coming through. B-24 states someone ran the flares down. C-24-3 states that has to stop; they need the road closed completely still.
16:19: Units clearing the other MVA are requested to return and assist with traffic control at Pleasant Valley Road.
16:21: B-24 is being instructed to go and make sure the road is closed, again.
16:25: E-13 is possibly back on scene.
16:26: C-24-3 states 3 trucks are en route to block off the road.
16:27: E-13 is being instructed to block one of the ramps.
16:41: Station 13 units are clear of this incident.
16:52: Command is terminated; all remaining units are back in service. There is no word if PennDOT has the road closed at this time.
