Multiple MVAs: Interstate 79

15:29: Stations 33, 24, and 52 dispatched for an MVA with rollover on I-79 southbound near the 105 MM. Google Maps shows a standstill approximately 1½ miles north of the Rt 108 exit in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County.

15:30: Chief 33 is en route directly to the scene.

15:31: Station 24 acknowledges the call. 52-1 is en route from Branchton.

15:33: Control states they’re getting multiple calls reporting crashes between the 101 and 105 mile markers. One call reports a rollover, another call reports a vehicle crashed, on fire. Station 64 is requested by C-33 in case there are multiple incidents and they are toned out.

15:34: Rescue 24 is en route. C-33 is requesting PennDOT be notified of the situation so they can start a truck that way.

15:35: Control states they have confirmed there is only 1 incident; the vehicle is rolled over and possibly smoking but there are no flames. 64-2 is responding.

15:36: Engine 33-2 is en route. Control state PennDOT has been notified.

15:38: Chief 24-3 is calling Control but is told he needs to standby. Control states PSP has been advised of no injuries at one incident; it is not clear if C-24-3 was reporting another incident or if this is all the same.

15:39: Control states the vehicle at the 101 mile marker is a separate incident with rollover, all occupants are out.

15:41: R-24 is on scene with the rollover at the 101 northbound. The vehicle is confirmed smoking but there is no fire.

15:42: C-33 is now reporting another MVA at the 102 MM in the median. Car is off the roadway.

15:44: Control states PSP spoke to the occupant of the vehicle at the 102 MM and they already have a tow en route.

15:45: The incident at the 102 MM is reported clear.

15:46: C-33 is instructing E-33-2 to takeover as a blocker unit in the slow lane (this is believed to be at the rollover at the 101 MM).

15:50: 52-1 is on location.

16:03: C-33 reports a car flagged them down and reported a white Subaru rolled over at the 99 MM (near the Rt 422 exit) and is asking Control if they’ve gotten any calls on it. Control is telling him to standby.

16:06: Engine 24 is responding. Control states this location calls for Station 13 as well and is asking if they are needed. C-24-3 states he will be on scene shortly and to hold off on dispatching Station 13 at this time.

16:08: C-33 is out with PSP at the 98 MM reporting negative injuries and PSP is releasing fire units.

16:10: E-24 is released by C-24-3.

16:15: C-33 is advising there was no MVA at the 104 MM; they have a disabled vehicle at the 102, and the actual MVA was at the 101 MM northbound. He did not mention the situation about which he spoke with PSP earlier at the 98 MM.

16:16: Control is asking 64-2 if they are available to handle a call in Lawrence County at this time. They state they can respond with an extended ETA; Control advises Lawrence County will tone them out.

16:18: 64-2 is clear of the incident, en route to New Castle for the medical call.

16:32: R-24 is clear of the 101 MM incident.

16:33: C-33 reports both Stations 33 and 24 are now clear of all incidents on the interstate.
