Male w/ Accidental GSW, Lawrence Co

14:34: Station 13 is requested to assist Lawrence County with their UTV near 1046 Gerber Road in Plain Grove Township for an 18 year old male with an accidental gunshot wound to the leg.

14:36: Chief 13-2 is en route to his station. 52-1 is possibly responding; Control is advising them they have been sent location information via cell phone. Station 13 acknowledges the call.

14:40: Lawrence County units 1544 and 1546 are on scene and advise this will be approximately 1,600 feet behind 2202 Georgetown Road. 52-1 is on scene. UTV-13 is en route.

14:42: LEOC is advising they still have the caller on the line and the caller reports he can hear the responders yelling for him.

14:43: Units are asking LEOC if this is a confirmed hunting accident; LEOC states that’s affirmative, he was shot in the leg with a muzzleloader and has a single bullet wound.

14:46: The next person coming back to the patient is instructed to bring a chain saw; the patient is back in a thicket. He is reportedly conscious and breathing with a GSW to the lower buttocks and thigh area.

14:47: Station 1500 is asking 1546 what else is needed at the scene; they are instructed to bring a couple of chain saws and 1540 for the Stokes basket.

14:48: 1546 is now asking LEOC to dispatch Butler Station 33 and Lawrence Station 300 for manpower. Chief 13 states they are getting on Route 19 at 422 and have a chain saw with the UTV.

14:49: 1546 states he will need a board.

14:50: The units with the patient state they have a Reeves stretcher and some splints right now. Station 33 is activated for and acknowledges the call.

14:51: 1546 is instructing LEOC to send a medical helicopter directly to the scene; the LZ will be a field right beside them. Station 300 is instructed to send their engine for the landing zone.

14:53: Engine 33-2 is responding. 1546 is advising he needs blankets for the patient.

14:55: Lawrence 1545 and 1540 are responding.

14:56: UTV-13 is on scene.

14:57: LEOC is advising Stat 8 is already in the air with an 8 minute ETA, although there is no indication they have yet left the Grove City Airport.

14:58: Stat 8 is now departing the airport.

15:00: 1546 is directing UTV-13 back into the patient.

15:01: Engine 303 is stating they are passing Greenshaw Road and Stat is 2 minutes out requesting an LZ brief. 1545 states they will have a big, open field right beside the scene of the incident. LEOC is advised that UTV-13 has reached the patient.

15:03: Units are discussing the exact location for the LZ; 1546 is stating “whatever works for you, just get it on the ground.” E-33-2 is on scene.

15:05: Stat 8 is reportedly circling now.

15:06: Brush 13 is asking the E-33-2 crew if they need more manpower with the patient; they are told they’re OK, the patient is being loaded onto the UTV now. The helicopter is marked on the ground at the LZ.

15:08: Patient extrication is beginning. Engine 303 is on scene on the hard road; they are asking if additional manpower should be sent back and are told negative.

15:09: Extrication is marked complete.

15:17: 1500 Command reports Stat 8 is airborne.

15:19: 1546 is asking 321 to return to and standby at Station 1500.

15:23: 1546 is telling 1548 he’s sending the UTV back out for rubber gloves and a garbage bag.

15:24: Command is advising Station 33 units that once they have all their units packed up, they can return in service.

15:30: Stat 8 is approaching the helipad at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.

15:31: 303 reports they are on standby at 1500.

15:32: 1546 is telling 1548 he needs at least 2, maybe 3, 50 gallon trash bags. He is advised the game warden just started back to the scene and he has garbage bags.

15:38: 1546 is being asked if he needs anything else and he is stating negative, units can begin breaking down.

15:48: 52-1 is being advised by Chief 1546 that when they are cleaned up, they can break down and return in service. All traffic control points are instructed to break down. Command is terminated; all fire and EMS units are clear, PSP and the Game Commission have control of the scene.
