22:26: Stations 42, 16, and 76, dispatched to the area of 244 Route 228 west in Middlesex Township for an MVA involving approximately 10 vehicles with unknown injuries.
22:27: R-42 responding.
22:29: Chief 16 en route.
22:31: R-42 requesting Adams PD close the intersection of 228 and Three Degree Rd.
22:33: 76-3 is advising responding units not to come down the hill, it is complete ice. Apparatus are going to stage and send crews down on foot. They’re stating it looks like no severe crashes, just a backlog of traffic.
22:34: 76-3 is staging near Davis Road to proceed on foot.
22:35: R-42 is staging near the entrance to Weatherburn Heights, sending personnel on foot.
22:36: 76-3 is asking for wheel chocks from 42 units, they can’t get stopped and can’t get out to check for patients. R-42 is now instructed not to proceed; multiple jackknifed tractor-trailers on the hillside.
22:38: Units are stating a salt truck just went through but the roadway re-froze almost immediately.
22:43: Chief 16 is instructing Station 16 to send the Utility to the intersection of 228 and Park Road for traffic control.
22:50: C-16 is asking if Middlesex PD are on shift tonight and the reply is negative; PSP was advised.
22:51: C-16 is asking Control to notify PSP that Route 228 is being fully closed. Cranberry units are being notified by Allegheny units that there is another MVA, Franklin at Cumberland; vehicle over the hillside into a tree. This is near the MVA Allegheny units were responding to on Franklin already. They are not aware of any injuries but a tow will be needed.
22:54: U-16 is on scene.
22:55: U-16 reports they have 228 closed at Park Road.
23:03: R-42 is asking L-42 to make sure Adams PD is advising people they can’t make it to Route 8 as vehicles are still coming through trying. The reply is they’re not sure anyone ever made it over there.
23:17: Multiple units are preparing to leave. The 76 ambulance states they are waiting for a couple cars to turn around now.
23:28: Units are stating Route 228 is still a sheet of ice that appears untreated. No traffic is to be sent yet.
23:29: R-42 states they are pulling into their station now.
00:01: Chief 16 is reporting all Station 16 units are clear of the incident.
