Working Chimney Fire, Leslie Road

09:42: Stations 16 and 76, with Allegheny County units dispatched for a possible structure fire at 331 Leslie Road in Middlesex Township. Caller reports a chimney is on fire.

09:43: 76-2 is en route.

09:44: Chief 16 is en route to the scene, requesting Station 42 be added to the call.

09:45: Station 45 is alerted.

09:47: Station 42 acknowledges the call.

09:49: Chief 16 is at the given location reporting the homeowner states they have no problems and did not call the fire department.

09:50: Control is stating this was called in by a daughter-in-law, and it was 3rd party information. Chief 16 requests they do a call back; they do not have a daughter-in-law.

09:51: Chief 16 is instructing units to proceed in non-emergency and stage on Leslie Road while he is investigating. Control is now advising the name of the residence, and it may be 332 Leslie Road. Chief 16 states it is a long lane, he will check and update in a minute.

09:52: R-16 is responding. C-16 is confirming smoke showing at 332 Leslie Road. Engine 42-2 is reportedly en route and Control has no word from Allegheny County units yet.

09:54: Control is advising C-16 that Allegheny 290 Truck is en route per Allegheny County.

09:55: 76-2 is on scene, staging on Leslie Road.

09:56: West Deer 290 Truck is now reporting en route on the Butler channel.

09:57: Tanker 16 is responding understaffed.

09:59: R-16 is instructed to come back the lane, they have a working chimney fire.

10:00: Chief 16 is now requesting Station 15 be added to the call. They are dispatched for a full assist.

10:01: R-16 instructed to position to leave room for 290. Engine 42-2 is approaching and will be first due engine, Tanker 16 and Squad 42 are also approaching, all are instructed to proceed back the lane.

10:02: Chief 15 is en route to his station. Command is asking for their ladder first.

10:05: 290 Truck is requesting instructions; they are to proceed down the lane as well.

10:06: 290 Truck is now reporting on scene.

10:09: Squad 42 and Ladder 15 are en route.

10:13: Engine 15 is en route.

10:16: Crew is reporting they’ve made access to the attic and it looks clear, and the chimney vent is cold.

10:20: L-15 is on scene and Squad 15-2 is approaching.

10:21: L-15 is instructed to stage on the road and Engine 15-2 has been released by Command and is back in service.

10:24: Smoke is coming down into the fireplace. Crew is asking if the fan can be seen or heard; the reply is “you’re definitely close, you’ve got major debris coming down, none of it’s glowing.”

10:29: Ladder 15 and 76-2 are released by Command.

10:30: Command is marking the fire under control.

10:35: Squad 42 is clear of the incident.

10:52: Engine 42-2 reports all 42 units are clear, followed by Command terminating the incident; all units now clear and returning.
