Smoke in Attic, Morgan Road, Penn Twp

17:05: Stations 11, 15 and 99 dispatched to 172 Morgan Road in Penn Township. Caller reports there is smoke in the attic and evacuation is in progress. Station 15 acknowledges the call.

17:06: Chief 11 is responding.

17:08: 45-3 and Chief 15-2 are responding.

17:11: Engine 11 is en route.

17:12: Engine 15-2 is en route.

17:14: Caller has called back, reporting flames showing from the attic.

17:18: Engine 11 is on scene. E-15-2 is at the end of the driveway and asking if they should come back; they are instructed to come back, they “need the help.”

17:19: E-15-2 is on scene.

17:21: Tanker 15 is approaching and is instructed to lay a line in the driveway.

17:24: The homeowner first stated he believed everyone was out of the house except 5 dogs; he now states his son may still be inside.

17:27: Command is asking for the second alarm activation.

17:28: Butler Stations 16 and 3 and Tanker 10, and Allegheny Tanker 241 are activated for the second alarm; Station 3 acknowledges the call with 1 firefighter on station. Station 10 acknowledges the call.

17:29: Tanker 10 is out of service; Engine 10 will respond in place. Chief 3 is reporting both en route and on scene. Chief 16 is en route to his station.

17:30: Engine 3 is responding. Control is advising C-3 that Tanker 3 may be needed due to T-10 being out of service.

17:31: Rescue 3-2 is en route. Interior is advising C-15-2 the fire is through the roof.

17:32: Control is asking if Command wants another tanker dispatched and they confirm they do.

17:33: Engine 10 is en route. Station 27 is activated for their tanker.

17:33: Command is now asking for Allegheny 288, possibly to standby in Station 15(?).

17:34: Station 27 acknowledges the call. Chief 27 is responding to his station; Control is reiterating their tanker is requested.

17:36: Tankers 3 and 16 are en route.

17:37: Command is requesting the call be upgraded to a full assist from all dispatched stations.

17:38: One of the apparatus on scene is out of water or nearly out of water. Utility 16 is responding.

17:39: Tanker 27 is en route. Allegheny 241 Tanker is responding.

17:40: E-3 is approaching from Rockdale Road. Squad 11 is approaching and is instructed to send their manpower. Tanker 11 is en route.

17:41: E-3 is asking if they are to hook into the supply line in the driveway; they are to do so until there is a tanker on scene.

17:42: E-27 and Allegheny 221-E-3 are responding. Command is asking for Central Electric to respond to the scene.

17:43: Tanker 16 is approaching; there will be a fill site at the bottom of Morgan Road.

17:44: E-3 is hooked into the supply line and instructed to send water.

17:45: E-3 is possibly reported out of water.

17:46: E-10 is on scene. Power company has been notified and they are going to attempt a remote disconnect; they will give an ETA if that is unsuccessful. Allegheny was unable to standby at Station 15.

17:47: Station 15 states they have another crew on station. Brush 27 is en route. Tanker 11 is being sent back now.

17:48: C-27 is requesting Station 36 standby at their station. Command is telling E-3 they are not getting any water from their engine at the scene; E-3 states they are empty and hooking into Tanker 16.

17:50: E-3 states water is coming to Command.

17:51: Brush 27 is responding. Station 36 acknowledges the standby. Command is telling Station 15 to roll their engine.

17:52: E-11-2 is asking if they are to setup a fill site.

17:53: E-15 is going to divert into the scene. T-3 is approaching. Control is now advising Command Central Electric is en route, no ETA available.

17:54: T-16 is advising Command they are almost out of water. T-3 is on scene.

17:55: Command is asking if E-3 can hook up to another tanker until they get a fill site setup. Command is advised E-3 is up at the scene now(?).

17:56: E-27 is requesting orders. E-11 is advised they should have water coming now.

17:57: Allegheny 241-E-1 is on scene and instructed to send their manpower to Command. E-27 is now on scene.

17:58: E-15 is responding.

17:59: B-27 is approaching from Moran Road, requesting orders.

18:00: The interior team reports they have breached the ceiling and they’re into attic. Command is asking for the condition of the attic as it does not look good from the outside. Interior is asking for more hand line. Interior is stating no fire conditions on the 2nd floor.

18:01: Squad 10 is on scene and instructed to send manpower to Command.

18:02: Interior is now reporting they have no water on their line.

18:03: Interior stating they still have air, no water.

18:04: 241-E-1 is possibly on scene – their radio is scratchy.

18:05: Interior is stating to shut [something] off and just send water.

18:15: Command is advising they are sending relief personnel in for the interior team.

18:17: A unit states they are working on establishing dry hydrant ops.

18:20: Someone is asking for a short ladder to be brought up to the roof.

18:22: Units are being advised to be cautious of the floor in the attic.

18:23: Allegheny 169 Engine is out at Station 15 on standby.

18:26: Captain 15 is advising Command the crew is backing out of the attic, the floor is “way too soft.”

18:28: Command is advising Captain 15 the exterior crew on the Charlie side of the structure is going to blow out a window in the attic.

18:31: The roof team is advising Command they are reading 71° all over; they are instructed to come down and proceed to accountability and rehab.

18:35: Chief 16 is requesting Station 19 move a tanker to Station 16.

18:36: Captain 19 acknowledges the call.

18:50: A unit (possibly 241) is requesting another ladder but is being told the attic is “finished.”

18:52: A unit states the Alpha-Delta corner is getting hot.

18:53: Traffic control units state some civilians have brought food and water for the firefighters and they are being sent down.

18:54: Two more roof ladders are being requested to the scene.

19:03: Crews at the fill site are checking the status of the scene. They are being advised there are still a couple apparatus heading their way.

19:04: The interior team is asking for further orders; they are being told to standby, they are still working on the roof and there is still some active fire.

19:25: Command is asking Water Supply what they have at their location; Tanker 3 is running the water right now and there are no trucks waiting; Tankers 11 and 241 are full.

19:32: Interior crew is asking Command to feed them more line.

19:34: A unit is stating the gas meter for the residence needs to be located and shutoff.

19:35: Command is advising the interior crew he has nothing on the outside and if they’re okay, they can start with a fan.

19:36: Fan is starting now.

19:37: Shingles are apparently being pushed off the roof and Command is being advised there are personnel on the ground underneath them.

19:38: Command is being asked if those personnel can be cleared out.

19:39: T-16 is asking Command if they are flowing water right now or if T-16 can shut down for a minute or two; Command states he has 3 full trucks there so they will be good for now.switch….

19:50: Allegheny 241 units are clear and Tanker 19 is released from standby.

20:20: Units are beginning to be released now.

20:29: Station 27 units are clear and Station 36 is released from standby.

20:34: Tanker 16 is returning to Station; their Gire Police are still on scene with Station 15 units.

20:38: The roadway is still closed at this time.

20:40: Incident terminated.

21:17: Tanker 3 is now clear of this incident. Units have continued to call back in service individually.
